Letters of support

Australian Federal ALP Senator, Claire Moore

Letter of support from Claire MooreI support the community work done by Camp La Salle Queensland.

The desperate need in our community for support and encouragement for young people, demands co-operation from organisations — Camp La Salle has determined to provide practical programs involving young people, and allowing them to work together to find personal security and hopy.

The proposed camp in September 2006 is aimed to encourage participants to develop friendship skills, make friends and to learn the fundamentals of responsibility.

We have the opportunity to help this work and to be part of the message of hope and achievement.

Former Queensland State Member for Redcliffe, Terry Rogers MP

Terry Rogers

I wish to express my support for the work of both Camp La Salle and Fish La Salle.

Any organisation which works for both the physical, mental and spiritual development of our community is worthy of considerable support; particularly when it is for, and driven by, young people.

Camp La Salle is such an organisation, of which its dedicated leaders are to be commended.

The ability of Camp La Salle to provide holiday opportunities for students grades 8 to 10 is to be admired, particulary as they are oriented towards gaining life skills.

I am proud to be able to support the work of Camp La Salle and Fish La Salle.

Letter of support from Cr Allan Sutherland, Redcliffe City Mayor regarding Fish La SalleFish La Salle

Lasallian Youth Ministries Qld are endeavouring to provide an activity based camp called "Fish LaSalle" in April 2006 and this year is an inaugral camp for the youth of Redcliffe. The camp is aimed at boys from 13 to 17 years of age and will provide recognition of the male role model and how to relate this in a positive way.

The camp will be an educational and fun weekend of learning about different fish species and how to fish. During this activity the boys will learn interactive communication skills as well as self esteem and confidence building skills in an appropriate teenage setting.

The aim of the camp is to encourage participants to develop friendship skills and friendships and to learn the fundamentals of responsibility while being supported by leaders and role models. The planned activities for the students include team building, self esteem and confidence building skills.

20 - 30 lower secondary students will be provided with an opportunity to attend this activity based camp that they would not normally have the chance to experience. The approximate cost of supporting each student to attend is $30.00. This includes all food and activities for the weekend.

This camp will undoubtedly benefit some of the young members of our community so any assistance that you can give to Fish LaSalle would be greatly appreciated.
